During the 2010 Sprint Cup season, I was invited back to work at Pocono Raceway for a second year. One of the projects
that I was entrusted with, was a fan appreciation event before the Sunoco Red Cross
Following brief conversations with some of the senior staff members at the track, it was decided that we would invite some lucky fans to “Lehigh Valley Grand Prix,”an indoor go-kart facility. They would get their chance to spend a few hours with and race against McMurray. After finalizing all of the details with both the track and the fans, I contacted Jamie's public relations representative and the #1 team to coordinate his arrival and participation for the event.
When the big day arrived, we were pleased that the event ran as smoothly as we could have hoped. Jamie’s participation and interaction with everyone involved was incredible. He took time to race against and meet each of the fans that had come out to see him. He also sat down with many different media outlets that covered the event and gave interviews to every reporter.
It was an incredibly successful event that brought a lot of positive attention to not only Jamie McMurray, but to Lehigh Valley Grand Prix and Pocono Raceway just a few days before the Sprint Cup race weekend.
